These Things Must Be Done To Get Along In Life (2009)

Post-Museum, Singapore

9-23 December 2009

The exhibition These Things Must Be Done To Get Along in Life (2009) considers human agency in the rhythm and structures of daily life. Based on the premise that all action is socioculturally mediated, this exhibition hones in at the intersection of human agency and structure, structure being primarily expressed as the things people do in a regularised and institutionalised way.

Works by Kirsten Tan, Sha Najak, Tan Wee Lit, and vertical submarine reflect on the ways individuals, resist, reshape, and reproduce these structures in their lives.

The publication includes an essay contributed by Dr Ingrid M Hoofd.
